Rhapsody App for iPhone

Wednesday, September 9th, 2009

Check out this video of the new Rhapsody iPhone App (pending approval). Looks cool, but for $15 a month I think I’d still opt for the Spotify option (which is also pending approval) as it doesn’t suggest anywhere in the video below that you can download playlists for listening to off-line.

I guess we’ll have to see if Apple give us the option of either…

Spotify submits iPhone app for approval

Monday, July 27th, 2009

spotify_iPhoneAppSpotify have submitted their app to the App Store for approval. Spotify has been called an “iTunes Killer”, so will it will be interesting to see how Apple decide to deal with this. A price hasn’t been given for the app yet, however rumours suggest that it will only be available to premium users paying £10 a month. One possible feature could be the ability to download a playlist before leaving the house so that poor or no network coverage will not affect the users listening. Fingers crossed it gets it’s approval!

Spotify opens its doors to developers

Wednesday, April 8th, 2009

I’ve been using Spotify for a while now simply because it’s brilliant and it’s free. However, I’ve also been interested to see how they’re going to develop as a music platform in an industry that clearly needs something to give people the kick up the ass they need to start buying music.

Today they’ve answered part of that question by announcing that they are to open its doors to developers (available only for Linux at the moment).

As long as I keep getting all the free music I want for now, I’ll be happy to cough up for premium membership when the iPhone app is launched :)
